Oxnard is a beautiful suburban community located along the coast off the 101 freeway North-of Camarillo. Located just 20 minutes to Santa Barbara and a little over an hour to Los Angeles, Oxnard is in a wonderful location. It has its own train station with Amtrak and Metrolink trains allowing for commuters to work and easy travel for vacation. There is also a small public airport.
Oxnard was incorporated in 1903 & was named after Henry Oxnard, owner of American Crystal Sugar Company who built a sugar beet factory. the naval bases of Naval Air Base Point Mugu and Port Hueneme were established as the only major navigable port on California’s coast between the Port of Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay. Companies utilizing the Port include Del Monte Foods, Chiquita, BMW, Land Rover, and Jaguar. It has a boat harbor called Channel Islands.
The population is approximately 208,000.

Oxnard has been known for several different crops over the years, including cucumbers, sugar beets, lima beans, Stock (the cut flower), and strawberries.
There are over 20 miles of scenic, relatively uncrowded coastline. Beaches in Oxnard include: Ormond Beach, Silver Strand Beach, Hollywood Beach, Hollywood-By-the-Sea, Mandalay Beach, Oxnard Beach Park, Oxnard Shores, 5th Street Beach, Mandalay State Beach, McGrath State Beach and Rivermouth Beach.
The Henry T. Oxnard Historic District is a 70-acre historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Oxnard. Covering approximately F and G Streets., between Palm and 5th Streets., in the city, the district includes 139 contributing buildings and includes homes mostly built before 1925. It contains Craftsman and Revival architecture in abundance

There are a couple of great places to golf in Oxnard: River Ridge and Buena Ventura.
Some of the top employers in Oxnard are St. John’s Regional Medical Center, Oxnard Union High School District, Waterway Plastics City of Oxnard and Haas Automation. Oxnard is California’s largest strawberry producer, supplying about one-third of the State’s annual strawberry volume.
Oxnard hosts its annual Strawberry Festival which features vendors, music, art and food items. It also hosts its annual Salsa Festival featuring salsa and salsa dancing. The Channel Islands annual Boat Parade of Lights and Festival is held each year in Channel Islands Harbor.
Many sports teams have practiced in Oxnard including Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Los Angeles Raiders and Los Angeles Rams. Local resident have truly enjoyed watching them practice.
The Collection at RiverPark has many shops and restaurants. This is a fairly new outdoor shopping center with some great stores like Target, Container Store, Whole Foods Market and REI. There are lots of restaurants to choose from including Bottle & Pint, Copper Blues Rock Pub & Kitchen, Famous Dave’s BBQ, Larsen’s Grill, Lazy Grill Cafe, Maria’s Italian Kitchen, Panera Bread, Red Robin & the Yard House.
